Why We Remember

Forced into trains

Stripped of all but our brains

Families torn, identities shorn

All I hear is a nation’s scorn

Mom walks away

It was her last hour

But she’ll be back the next day

Went to take a shower

Steel helmets and guns

Trapped within the razor wire

There is no chance to run

My fate is worse than hell fire

I can smell his breath

The sadistic angel of death

Strapped to a cold steel chair

Why does nobody care?

Needles shoot into my brain

My eyes melt, I scream in pain

Limbs popped off, sowed back together

My organs sliced out forever

Death is the one relief

This is my only belief

Will anybody in the future care

About the evil committed here?

How will they learn and react

To future genocidal attacks?

This holocaust has shown

The hate that can be sown

So speak out, take a stand

Time to draw a line in the sand
